Count Fleet was a champion known for his blinding speed, and he was the very definition of a "war horse." Having captured the Triple Crown in 1943, Count Fleet graced the racetrack at the same time that American soldiers were fighting to victory in World War II. Count Fleet was described as a "fiery" racehorse with an intense desire to run and compete, which brought legions of fans to his races and offered the American public a champion to look toward as the U.S. pushed through the tough wartime years of the early 1940s.
